India bags one gold and five bronze medals in IMO 2022                                                                 

      

The Indian team bagged one gold and five bronze medals in the International Mathematical Olympiad 2022 held in Oslo, Norway, from July 6-16.

Pranjal Srivastava of Bengaluru won the gold medal, while Atul Shatavart Nadig and Kaustav Mishra, also of Bengaluru, Arjun Gupta of Delhi, Adhitya Venkata Ganesh Mangudy of Pune, and Vedant Saini of Chandigarh won the bronze.



The Indian team bagged one gold and five bronze medals in the International Mathematical Olympiad 2022 held in Oslo, Norway, from July 6-16.

With this year’s medal, Pranjal Srivastava has scored a hat trick. He is the first Indian to win three gold medals at the IMO. In his debut year, 2018, at the age of 14, he won a silver medal and went on to win gold medals in 2019, 2021, and 2022. In 2020, India could not participate in the IMO due to the COVID pandemic. He has also won two Gold medals in the Asian Pacific Mathematical Olympiad (2019, 2022).

The team had won a total score of 165 out of a maximum possible score of 252. In all, 589 contestants (521 Males, 68 Females) participated in IMO 2022.

The team consisted of Dr. Satyajit Sahu, Associate Professor of the Department of Physics at IIT-Jodhpur, Jayanta Bera, and Atanu Betal, Ph.D. students in his Department; Dr. Ashish Sharma, Senior Research Fellow, and Dr. Arup Kumar Rath, Senior Scientist, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune; and Dr. Uday Shankar, a Ph.D. student at IIT Roorkee.
