Mr. Bimal Srivastava

Bimal K Srivastava: Welcome all to today’s chat session. Today’s topic is about Aeroplanes, you are all welcome to ask questions related to aeroplanes and aviation
Manu:
 hi sir
Bitto:
 good afternoon sir
Bimal Srivastava:
Hello Manu, do you have any question?
Manu:
Why do not plane take off vertically
Bimal Srivastava: Manu, for take off, Aeroplanes need high lift and hence heavy engine power and for that aeroplanes had to make a long run on the run way. For vertical take off with heavy load, extraordinary power will be needed which is not possible in present day design of aircraft engines.
Sachin:
 hello sir
Sachin:
what is the basic principle behind the take off of aeroplanes
Bimal Srivastava:
Sachin, Four forces namely lift, weight, thrust and drag are needed for keeping an aeroplane in the air. Thrust is achieved through engine power, Lift through engine power and design of aeroplanes, Weight is the weight of the aeroplane and the Drag is produced through the reactions of the air. For take off, lift should be greater than weight and thrust should be greater than drag.
Thakur:
what is a stealth plane, how do they hide a plane
Bimal Srivastava: Thakur, In a Stealth Plane the radar waves are not allowed to get reflected by virtue of its design. That is why stealth plane cannot be seen on radar, and therefore, cannot be detected by enemies.
Gaurav: What happens if it rains on the day?
Bimal Srivastava: Gaurav, Modern aeroplanes are capable of operating in bad weather conditions including rain. However, due to rain the runway becomes slippery and visibility becomes poor. Thus the pilot has to exercise caution while landing in rain.
Gao Shan:
 hello sir
Thakur:
Does india have any stealth planes
Bimal Srivastava:
Thakur, No, India does not have any Stealth Planes. These are meant for defence purposes, very expensive and still under test stage.
Gao Shan:
can you tell me, What are those two red lights that flashing on and off on top of bridges.
Bimal Srivastava: Gao Shan, They are called obstruction lights and are meant to warn the pilot about a hazard.
Guru:
 hello sir
Chotiwala:
 GE sir jii
Chotiwala:
 what is plan?
Bimal Srivastava:
Chotiwala, The flight plan is filed by the pilot to the air traffic control unit before starting the flight. It shows its intended route and flight details.
Manu:
how does air traffic controller control traffic in air? Are there any predefined routes
Bimal Srivastava: Manu, The Air traffic controller remains in radio contact with the pilot and passes instructions to the pilot to follow a particular height and direction depending upon other traffic. Thus, he is able to separate one aircraft from other and avoids collision between various aeroplanes flying together. There are predefined routes all over the world and pilots are required to follow those routes.
Chotiwala:
concept to develop a new plane?
Bimal Srivastava:
Chotiwala, Aeronautical Engineers design new aeroplanes depending upon various requirements such as the load requirements, speed, capacity, fuel consumption, purpose of aircraft etc. They chose and design the shape of the wings and other parts of the aircraft, use special aircraft material, design suitable engines achieving the above qualities.
dinesh:
 what is microlight flights
Bimal Srivastava:
Dinesh, Microlight flights are very light aircraft with a small engine.
manu:
 ok sir
Guru: differ between fighter plane and other plane.
Bimal Srivastava:
Guru, The fighter planes are lighter in weight, can be manoeuvred and turned swiftly; can go at a very high speed and climb and decend at fast speed. They are also capable of attacking enemy aircraft and installations.
Gao Shan: sir if the radio contact fails
Bimal Srivastava:
Gao, there are special operational procedures designed for radio failure. The pilot and the Air Traffic Control Unit can follow those procedures in case of radio failure.
Gao Shan:
 aic to manu answers
Chotiwala:
how developed the theory of fighter plane
Gao Shan:
sir if the radio contact fails?
a/c to manu answers
Gao Shan:
 what r the alternative options
Bimal Srivastava: Gao, the air traffic controller will guide the aeroplane based on radar image. He will ask other aircraft to clear the path of aircraft having radio failure
Kaju munshi:
 Sir what are pioneer aeroplanes
Bimal Srivastava:
Kaju Munshi, pioneer aeroplanes are the aeroplanes having some novel technology and New features. For example Concorde, Airbus A-380 and Boeing 787 are pioneer planes having new technology.
Chotiwala:
name of new technology u used…?
Bimal Srivastava:
Chotiwala, your question is not clear
Monika:
 sir what is FAA
Bimal Srivastava:
Monika, FAA stands for Federal Aviation Administration. It is the regulatory body for Civil Aviation in USA.
Manu:
where can one get microlight flying licence
Bimal Srivastava: Manu, Please contact Director General of Civil Aviation, Opposite Safdarjung Airport ,New Delhi 110003
Navneet kumar gupta:
 good afternoon sir
Navneet kumar gupta:
 sir what is black box
Bimal Srivastava:
Navneet, There are two black boxes installed in the aeroplane known as Cockpit Voice Recorder(CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR). They record cockpit conversation and flight parameters during the flight. Mostly used for accident investigation
Monika:
 what is AIAA
Bimal Srivastava:
Monika, AIAA is not a standard aviation term .Please specify for the details.
Monika:
sir jab hum upar ud jate hain to kaan kyon band ho jate hain
Bimal Srivastava: Monika, the atmospheric pressure at high altitude is very low. Although the aeroplanes are pressurized, still due to low air pressure we feel pain in ears.
Monika:
 what is Wind Tunnel Tests
Bimal Srivastava: Monika, In a wind tunnel, a model aircraft is subjected through various tests to check the effect of wind speed, lift, drag etc and effect of many other forces on flights. Thus the capability of the actual aeroplane in flight is determined.
Guru:
sir why all aircraft have round and very small windows?
Bimal Srivastava: Guru, large windows would weaken the aeroplane structure, and  the aeroplane will not be able to withstand the adverse atmospheric conditions at such high altitude. Moreover when the aeroplane is flying at a height it needs air conditioning and normal air pressure. The walls of aeroplane are made very thick so that outside low pressure and temperature will not adversely affect the passenger cabin.
Monika:
 ok sir thank u
Guru:
please answer my question also sir
Guru:
Is it possible to land or take off the plane through auto pilot.
Bimal Srivastava:
Guru, Yes it is possible to fly, control and land the aeroplane through auto pilot. However mostly, for landing the pilots prefer to land manually.
Navjyo:
sir have u idea about Ace Air
Bimal Srivastava: Navjyo, please give me more details.
Navneet kumar gupta:
sir when aeroplane on the Runway what safety point apply in fog
Bimal Srivastava: Navneet, In fog the visibility becomes low, and therefore assistance from ground landing facilities such as radar and instrument landing system(ILS) etc is taken by the pilot.
Navjyo:
Sir what r the careers opportunities for MCA in ur industry
Navjyo:
how u start ur careers in this field
Bimal Srivastava: navjyo, Certain airlines need MCA for their computer department. Please check the vacancy in the concerned airline.
Navjyo:
please give me ur suggestion about my future
Bimal Srivastava: navjyo, Please go through the airlines advertisements regularly.
Navneet kumar gupta: barmuda angle is true or false
Wrold Cup 2007:
 hello sir jii
Jeetu:
what type of fuel used in airplane
Bimal Srivastava:
jeetu, Modern Jet aeroplanes use aviation kerosene, which is a type of refined kerosene as fuel. Jeetu: is this fule better than petrol
Bimal Srivastava: Jeetu, Aviation kerosene is cheaper than petrol and it has got high potency to power the heavy jet aircraft .
World cup:
sir, can India win this world cup
Bimal Srivastava:
 No reply.
Monika:
 bye bye sir
Jeetu: sir, why the fare of planes vary for same distance and facilities, does cheaper planes are not good
World cup:
what is ur fare to go West Indies
Bimal Srivastava:
 No reply.
Jeetu:
is this kerosene can be used in cars also, I mean is it available and compatible
Bimal Srivastava: No. Jeetu. Cars use piston engines, for which petrol is required. Refined kerosene can be used only in Jet engines.
Jeetu:
 please answer sir…
Bimal Srivastava: Jeetu, The fare is decided by the airlines concerned and they do it depending upon the number of passengers flying on the route, profitability of the route and many other factors. Thus the fare varies from route to route.
Me:
 GE
Me:
 hello kaju munshi
Jeetu:
 ok
Jeetu:
 thanks sir
Jeetu:
what type of material is used for construction of airplanes
Jeetu:
 materila***
Jeetu:
 material***
Bimal Srivastava: Jeetu, Normally light and strong materials and alloys are used for aircraft construction. Most common are Titanium, Aluminium, plastic reinforced fibre, carbon fibre etc. Steel is used for engines.
